Tommy was rescued after his feeders discovered that a wire had tightened around his paw, cutting off blood circulation. It was a close call \u2014 any later, and he might have needed an amputation. He was warded at the vet for two weeks for close monitoring and daily wound management.<\/p>\n
Recovery wasn\u2019t smooth at first. His paw didn\u2019t heal as expected, so further tests were done before the right treatment plan was found. Understandably, Tommy was very uncooperative during bandage changes \u2014 the pain was intense, and he was scared. Thankfully, with time and the right medication, his paw began to heal, and he could finally be discharged back to the shelter.<\/p>\n
At the shelter, Tommy is still learning to trust people. He can get uncomfortable and may snap when he feels threatened, but we\u2019ve started seeing glimpses of his happier side \u2014 especially when he\u2019s out on walks, which he now enjoys.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re hopeful that with continued care and patience, Tommy will continue to heal both physically and emotionally. Once his paw has fully recovered, he will also begin treatment for heartworm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
