Joyful Learning Through Play & Experience

At Dharma Junior, learning the Dharma is a joyful, living experience!

We believe that true understanding blossoms not through memorization alone, but through experiences that touch the heart and spark the imagination. Here, the timeless teachings come alive through vibrant storytelling, creative crafts, playful group games, and meaningful outings. In Dharma Junior, every child is lovingly embraced just as they are — with their own personalities, interests, and pace of learning. Children are surrounded by a community that sees them, hears them, and cherishes them. It is in this atmosphere of acceptance, connection, and emotional safety that they are free to grow — to explore their hearts, to develop their wisdom, and to deepen their compassion.

In this joyful space, children don’t just learn about kindness, patience, and compassion — they live it, feel it, and share it. These happy, heartfelt experiences become treasured memories and quietly weave the foundation for a lifetime of inner strength, wisdom, and loving action. We offer a nurturing environment filled with loving kindness, patience, and presence.

It’s not just about teaching Dharma — it’s about living it with our children.

They become virtuous friends forever, not just in this life but for all future lives!

The journey of a child in the Dharma is like a star being born — first nurtured gently in a garden of love, play, and discovery (Dharma Junior), and then supported to shine confidently in their own unique light (Leagues Youth). Every step honors their spirit, celebrates their individuality, and guides them with the light of the Buddha’s teachings.

Together, we create a sacred space where the journey of inner growth is celebrated, and where each child can blossom into the courageous, compassionate being they are meant to be.

At Dharma Junior, we’re not just teaching Dharma — we’re growing joyful hearts and bright minds for the world!

The Four Friends: Growing in Harmony

One of the first stories our children meet in Dharma Junior is the beloved tale of the Four Friends: the elephant, monkey, rabbit, and bird. Each animal contributes their unique gift to help a fruit tree grow and flourish — and in turn, they learn to live together in harmony.
This story teaches us to respect each other’s differences, honor each other’s strengths, and work together with kindness. It’s a simple story, but its lessons ripple through everything we do in Dharma Junior.

Sacred Mirror

The Sacred Mirror represents consciousness and the element of space. Clear, pure and bright, the mirror reflects all phenomena objectively without bias, thereby reminding us to practice objectivity and to rise above our judgmental minds. On a more subtle level, it reflects the Buddha’s core teaching of emptiness – that nothing exists on its own side without a dependent arising cause.

Pinnacle of the mirror

The pinnacle of the mirror, formed by the white crescent moon, flaming red sun and an orange flame of fire, represents the completion stage of Vajrayana practice.

Light Rays

The light rays radiating from the Sacred Mirror represent the flourishing of the Buddha’s teachings, fanning out to the furthest reaches of the universe.

Full Moon Disc

The moon disc represents Bodhicitta, the aspiration to become a Buddha to benefit all sentient beings.

Blue Lotus

Divinely fragrant, blue lotuses bloomed only in the Buddha’s time. By incorporating it into the temple’s logo, it is symbolic of the ever-present Buddha in Thekchen Choling. Moreover, a lotus flower represents purity, perfection, compassion and renunciation, similar to how the beautiful lotus remains untainted even though it had arisen out from the muddy waters.

Nine Precious Jewels

These nine precious jewels represent the Guru, Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, yidam or mind-seal deity, Dharma protector, the sky, earth, and the human realm.

Two Dragons

The two dragons represent continuity and harmony and create the cause for the temple to enjoy the strong support of members and benefactors for Dharma to flourish.

Golden Khata

The flowing golden khata represents the auspicious increase of all Dharma activities.
